99 People Arrested In Highway Sting Outside Okeechobee Music Festival

Over 99 people was arrested in highway string outside the Okeechebbe music festival the matter is still under investigation .

Major buzzkill.

Every year, tens of thousands of people flock to rural Okeechobee County, Florida for the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival. As with most festivals, attendees come equipped with a wide variety of drugs to enhance their festival experience, and St. Lucie County Sheriiff’s Office is apparently well aware of this. They ran a “highway interdiction program” during the first couple days of the festival, and arrested 99 people, more than ever before.

According to the sheriff’s department, confiscated drugs included hallucinogenic mushrooms, marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine, synthetic marijuana, LSD, hydrocodone and heroin. Police would pull people over for traffic offenses, and then if “something alerts the officer involved to possible drug activity or drugs within the car then the drug sniffing dog is called to the scene,” explained Sheriff Ken Mascara. People should have followed Jay Z’s advice from “99 Problems” and locked everything in the trunk.

The Sheriff’s Department made out like thieves with the timing of their “interdiction” – apparently these efforts usually yield around 20 arrests compared to the 99 from last week. This year’s headliners included The Roots, Usher, Wiz Khalifa and Waka Flocka Flame.
