Honda Unveils Miimo – A Robot That Cuts Your Lawn For You
Honda is out to make mowing the lawn easier for everyone with the new automated lawn mower. It’s not a surprise that Honda has developed a robotic lawn mower. The company already makes lawn mower engines.
The Miimo Robotic Lawn Mower, which will be released soon will come in two different models each with five programmable cutting modes.
Honda’s robotic lawn mower operates via batteries. It uses sensors combined with a timer to cut grass within a particular area. To mark the boundaries, you simply install a wire on your lawn. The mower detects an electric signal emitted by the wire.
Miimo also has onboard panoramic sensors that can detect and stop the mower before it collides with an object. The mower also features an anti-theft measure. When Miimo is lifted from the ground, the sensors send a signal to an alarm. Then, it shuts off the mower. The only way to get it to start again is with a PIN number.
The Miimo can tackle lawns up to one acre, which gives it an advantage over other robotic lawnmowers as most can only handle smaller lawns. There are five different cutting modes on the Miimo—Edge, Spiral, Directional, Random and Mixed.
The Miimo is expected to be released in the United States in June. No word yet on when it will be available to us Aussies.
