Officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to the 900 block of General Booth Blvd. at 11:12 p.m. on July 27, 2024, to investigate a bicycle collision. Officers arrived at the location and found one vehicle and one bicyclist, Christopher Malik (M/34) of Pennsylvania. Malik was treated by first responders immediately, however he died at the spot as a result of his injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained on the site and cooperated with investigators. There have been no charges filed at this time.
The car’s driver remained at the scene and assisted the police. As of right now, no charges have been brought. This event is being looked into by the Traffic Safety Unit of the VBPD.
