A Mississippi woman was sentenced to at least 35 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to murdering a man and then dumping his body in an oil field, according to Mississippi prosecutors.
Mississippi 15th Circuit Court District Attorney Hal Kittrell said in a press release obtained by PEOPLE that Sierra Jane Inscoe, 22, from Prentiss, Miss., was sentenced to 40 years in prison, 35 of which will be “served without the possibility of parole or early release.”
This comes after Inscoe pleaded guilty in court on July 16 to fatally shooting 24-year-old Carson Sistrunk on September 4, 2022, according to the release.
Kittrell thanked the local and state law enforcement agencies that worked together investigating this case in his statement, adding that “thanks to their hard work, we were able to take a violent individual off the streets and show that there are severe consequences” to those who harm others.
