Gypsy Rose Crime Case: DD Blanchard autopsy released, after fatally stabbed on May 3, 1967

In June 2015, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard (née Pitre), 48, who was born in Chackbay, Louisiana, on May 3, 1967, was discovered fatally stabbed in her Springfield, Missouri, home. Nicholas Godejohn was the one that killed her. Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, her daughter, was the one who orchestrated the murder.

Five days after the murder, when locals noticed suspicious Facebook posts made the day before by Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, police found the remains of Dee Dee. A few hours later, Gypsy-Rose and Nicholas Godejohn—who was born in Big Bend, Wisconsin—were taken into custody and admitted to the murder. According to the media, Gypsy-Rose Blanchard was coerced by Dee Dee to pretend that she had serious mental and physical impairments in order to get social and financial advantages.

In 2018, just before going on trial, Blanchard entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder, receiving a ten-year sentence. The person who attacked Dee Dee, Godejohn, was found guilty of first-degree murder in November 2018 following a quick trial. He received a life sentence without the chance of release. On December 28, 2023, Blanchard was granted parole and released from prison. She started to receive media notice, appearing in a number of TV shows and movies.
