Javien Toviano, the 19-year-old defensive back for LSU who appeared in 13 games for the Tigers last season, was taken into custody over the weekend after he allegedly admitted to recording himself having sex with a woman without her consent. The police documents were obtained by authorities, and Toviano admitted to secretly recording several sex encounters with a woman earlier this month by placing a camera inside a bedroom clock.
A representative for the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office told The Times-Picayune that Toviano turned himself in to authorities on charges of video voyeurism on Sunday. According to the documents, the accused victim told officers she discovered the videos on his iPad, which were reportedly taken on July 5 and July 6.
Toviano had been expected to compete for a starting cornerback spot when the team opened training camp next month. Following his arrest, LSU said in a statement that it has suspended him “from all team activities.” “We will not have further comment out of respect for the legal process,” the school added. Toviano recorded 33 total tackles and a pass breakup in his freshman season with LSU.
