Dr. Michael Frumovitz, Oncology at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas, has passed away after battling cancer. Frumovitz was diagonsed with pancreatic in 2022. “Dr. F,” as he was affectionately known, was one of the oncologists at MD Anderson who treats high-grade cervical neuroendocrine carcinoma of the uterine cervix. This type of cancer can be classified as either small or large cell varieties. He has a tremendous amount of understanding and enthusiasm for this terrible cancer. The majority of people who are diagnosed with this rare and fatal malignancy pass away. No one had ever attempted to treat it because of how uncommon it was and how awful the prognosis was.

The cancer was brought to the attention of the medical community, which brought about the much-needed awareness, he propagated hope, and he succeeded in saving lives. He established a standard protocol for treatment. As well as being an outstanding physician and a friend that will never be forgotten, he was a lovely husband and parent.

About Michael Frumovitz

Dr. Frumovitz was granted the esteemed Fulbright Scholarship to pursue advanced laparoscopic training for the treatment of gynecologic malignancies in Lille, France, following his graduation from the MD Anderson Gynecologic Oncology fellowship. Currently, he is performing minimally invasive surgery on suitable patients who have cervical, endometrial, and early-stage ovarian malignancies.

Dr. Frumovitz is committed to delivering high-quality care through a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach that involves collaborating closely with the patient, the referring doctor, and other subspecialty physicians. Dr. Frumovitz is dedicated to the advancement of his research interests, which encompass cervical cancer, mucinous ovarian cancer, and minimally invasive surgery for gynecologic malignancies, in addition to his exceptional patient care. In addition, Dr. Frumovitz is presently the Principal Investigator or Co-principal Investigator on mapping studies of the vulva, vagina, and cervix, and has pursued the development of lymphatic mapping techniques for gynecologic malignancies.

He has authored and co-authored a plethora of articles in peer-reviewed journals that address these and other topics. Furthermore, he has been invited to contribute book chapters and review articles on a diverse array of gynecologic oncology subjects. Dr. Frumovitz continues to be an active speaker on a national and international scale. Dr. Frumovitz is board-certified in Gynecologic Oncology and Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, where he serves on the Government Relations Committee.

Furthermore, he is a Reviewer for the International Journal of Gynecologic Cancer, Obstetrics & Gynecology (commonly referred to as The Green Journal), and Annals of Surgical Oncology.
