Following his attempted assassination, supporters adopted the former president Donald Trump’s “Fight, Fight, Fight!” scream as a rallying cry. Now, it has found its way into America’s sport, with an MLB player imitating the scene in the middle of a game.
Shortstop Taylor Walls of the Tampa Bay Rays blasted a double into right field on Sunday during the team’s game against the New York Yankees and made a smooth trip to second base. Walls lifted his hand and mouthed the same words in honor of No. 45 as he turned to his dugout to celebrate.
Social media users rapidly shared the highlight, and the MAGA mob went crazy for it. Naturally, others weren’t like of it, pointing out that Walls ought to be more focused on raising his batting average, which is now at.160 after 81 at-bats.
It wasn’t the only moment from Sunday’s schedule of events that attracted a lot of attention; according to some, the St. Louis Cardinals also acknowledged Trump after their outfielder, Alec Burleson, hit a single home run that was 435 feet long.
But after the game, Matt Carpenter, the designated hitter for the Cards, informed reporters that the idea was a nod to Burleson’s days as a collegiate rapper, putting an end to it.
Carpenter remarked, “There’s an inside joke with [Burleson].” By no means is this a political statement. I’m not sure where that originated.”
